SUNDAY EVENING MASSES RESUME AUGUST 25th

Pentecost

Come Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.
V. Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created.
R. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Church Flooring Work
Masses Moved to the Parish Center
May 20-June 7

Maintaining our beautiful 92-year-old church is a responsibility we take seriously at St. Mary. Last year we plastered and painted inside the church. The kneelers were recovered, the pews refinished and the paintings carefully cleaned. For years we have been hoping to repair weak spots in the floor and replace the tile in the body of the church. The current flooring was put down in 1952! Now there are many cracked and peeling tiles that are becoming more and more of a tripping hazard. The total cost of the repair is $38,750. For Easter we received an anonymous gift of $20,000 toward that end! Because of this gift we will replace this floor this summer before the problem gets worse. A fund has been started to raise the remaining amount. If you would like to help, drop a donation in the collection in a separate envelope clearly marked "Floor Fund". Keep an eye on for bulletin for information about the fund's progress.

Due to the scale of the repair, the church will not be accessible. We will have to vacate the building for a few weeks. The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 20 and will last through Friday, June 7. Beginning Monday, May 20 daily Mass and/or Communion Services will be celebrated in the downstairs of the parish center at the usual mass times. Masses and confessions for the TWO weekends (Saturday and Sunday, May 25/26 and June 1/2) will also be in the center-the Saturday 4:30pm andSunday 7:30am in the handicap-accessible downstairs and the 9:00am and 11:30am in the larger upstairs space.

If you want to avoid stairs, the Saturday 4:30pm and Sunday 7:30am masses will be your best bet. There is a handicapped ramp leading up to the Poplar Street entrance. To attend the 9am and 11:30am masses, it will be necessary to climb about 20 stairs.

Many blessings on the anonymous gift-giver! We are very grateful for such generosity.
